The A Step Ahead Chess Family is excited to announce Carter Caldwell as our December Student of the Month!

From day one, Carter consistently demonstrated her competitive spirit and keen ability to problem-solve all the way to checkmate. However, as Carter continues to participate and grow in her knowledge of chess fundamentals, her understanding of strategic planning skillsets continues to become more refined.

And although Carter is a fierce competitor at the board, she continuously demonstrates her ability to grow from the adversities she encounters as her understanding of how losses are nothing more than lessons develop and supersedes that of many (even advanced) chess players. Moreover, Carter has shown ease in understanding that lessons inform future success. This has heightened her sense of self-confidence, and her ability to try new ventures (both at the chess board and beyond).
