Coach Julian

Hey, I’m Julian Medrano! I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, where I still live to this day, and am a sophomore attending Gurdon S. Hubbard High School I’ve been rather fond of teaching others ever since my algebra teacher asked if I were to assist other students after school. I find it very fun and exciting when assisting other people to expand their own knowledge. I do my very best to ensure that each and every one of the students in my care is able to learn more and more with my teachings in a way that they can find entertaining and amusing.

I first learned how to move the pieces when I was about the age of 7, however, I never really had the opportunity to expand on my abilities, never being taught the fundamentals of chess. It took until a few years ago that I finally picked the game back up again with new eyes. I never had a teacher who would spend time teaching me the fundamentals of chess that every aspiring player should know, but I wish to bring the fun and knowledge that I learned these past few years to as many people as I can. I want to be the teacher that I was not given.

No matter where the journey takes us, I promise to take each and every one of my students as far as possible.
