Coach Walker

 Stephen Walker, Jr. is excited to join the ATGA Family as a Virtual Chess Coach. As a 13 year veteran in education, teaching and coaching is a large part of Coach Walker’s life.

After obtaining his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign, Walker spent 6 years in the private sector working in the field of Information Technology. In 2005 he returned to school to earn his M.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics.

Since 2008, Coach Walker has had the privilege to serve the Southland Community through various roles at Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields. He has served as Math Instructor, Dean, Football and Basketball Coach on various levels; Activities Specialist, Chess Club Sponsor, and numerous teams and committees throughout his tenure. ATGA is a unique and exciting opportunity for Coach Walker to combine his love for the game of chess with his passion for educating our youth!
